Step 1 of 5 · Specific

Make it specific

What exactly do you want to do? Describe the action, no need to start with "I want to".

Vague goals are easy to put off. Ask yourself who, what, where and how.

Step 2 of 5 · Measurable

Make it measurable

How will you know you are on track? What can you count, log or notice?

Numbers, frequencies, dates, or something you can clearly observe.

Step 3 of 5 · Achievable

Is it achievable?

Be honest. Why is this realistic for you with what you have right now, your time, energy and support?

If it feels too big, write what a smaller first version could look like.

Step 4 of 5 · Relevant

Why does it matter?

Why this goal, and why now? What will it change for you?

If the answer feels weak, the goal might not be the right one.

Step 5 of 5 · Time-bound

When?

When will you achieve this by? A real date or a clear timeframe.

A goal without a deadline is a wish.
